Don't get burned by your freezer: Defrosting a frozen turkey in the refrigerator takes about one day for every 5 pounds. Speed it up: Submerget hte turkey in cold water (use a clean sink) and change the water every half-hour. Allow 30 minutes per pound of turkey, or about 10 hours for a 20-pound bird.
